What song best describes your current mood?
Submitted by Section31.
Because I couldn't really figure out my mood (does hunger count?) I decided to post my favorite Dan Bern song. He's not ever released it and I don't think I've ever heard him play it live, but I have a bucketful of unreleased Dan Bern cds and tapes and this one is just beautiful to me.
After reading the lyrics again, I realized that it summed up my mood as well as anything could. Since I spend a fair amount of time documenting my life in journals and blogs. But, no, I do not want to run away. Anymore.
But it’s harder, when you’ve outstayed your welcome
It’s hard to do
One time Johnny tried LSD
Had a great revelation, but he
Found he couldn’t put it into words
So he started drawing pictures of birds
With ten eyes
Men with 50 arms
I wanna run run away run away run away (3x)
From here
In the afternoon my Dad would draw the blinds
Sleep till I woke him up with my mind
I was only 3 or 4 years old
I lost that power long ago
Ridin’ through the rain on a motor bike
Babe Ruth lookin at a called third strike
Charles Manson working at the fair
Lettin all the little kids pull his hair
I wanna run run away run away run away (3x)
From here
Let me go and I will tell you stories all my life
If you don’t catch up I’ll make it up to you in the next life, I promise you
I live on the margin, I live on the side
Don’t sit with the bride groom, or the bride
I sit with the engineer
Who takes me fishing on the edge of the pier
I’ve come to believe we made up time
Like we made up rhythm and made up rhyme
But it don’t bug me, it’s OK
Livin in endless Saturday
I wanna run run away run away run away (3x)
From here….
What song or lyrics are stuck in your head at the moment? What album is it from?

There are no songs or lyrics stuck in my head at the moment. Sometimes there are, especially if one of my kids or husband (ehh, same thing) sing whatever's in their head.
This morning, for example, my husband insisted on singing "Bug bug, bugaroo, bugaroo, bugaroo, bugaroo." to some jingly kinda theme music (vaguely familiar, but I cannot remember it for sure). Loudly. While grinding coffee beens. (He calls my kids and me "Bug" and was trying to awaken my 15 year old for school. He succeeded in only waking me up and scaring cats. The 15 year old was late for her bus and had to be driven to school.
Anyway, there are no songs in my head. I've not really been listening to anything recently. When I listen to Dan Bern a lot I end up with his songs in my head, in my dreams, in the shower....everywhere. Maybe after the show I'm going to in a few weeks I'll get a song of his in my head.
Thanks for asking though!
